long walk, feeling healthy

We did our 20k walk today with the whole junior high school (actually some kids got it easy because their houses were close to where we had lunch and thus didn't have to walk all the way back to school).

It was a fun time and I'm happy that my mom made it back alive and with no complaints.

There are still many sakura flowers out now. Despite their ephemerality they linger here as each tree has its own special timing and flower lifespan. There was swallow tail butterfly that landed on some beautiful flowers by the road and I got some pictures of it... That was nice.

I got a letter with a couple postcards from an old friend in France today. It was very nice to read a foreign language that I can easily translate on the spot. I almost felt like I was reading English. I want to go and live in France sometime and speak more French... It is a beautiful language.

The frogs outside are making a lot of noise in the rice paddy that is more like a large, rectangular, shallow lake right now.

As I get older I see more and more that courtesy, understanding, and respect, if given to someone, can make someone nice and happy. If not given, then not so good things can happen. I guess that that's all the wisdom I can come up with right now... Karma could be described along these lines: if you disrespect, or lie to, people then you can expect to feel the pain later, but if you treat people well (and with honesty) then good things will ensue. Honesty, unfortunately, is one of the hardest things to achieve (and sometimes I think it's impossible). But you can certainly do your best and try to be aware of yourself (still can be very challenging). My head is in a bit of a cloud from the miles of walking.... It is hard to maintain a functioning brain on a daily basis....
